As the nation marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, this major public program brings Wabanaki perspectives to the center of the national conversation.
Join Penobscot leader Donna Loring—author, broadcaster, and former Senior Advisor on Tribal Affairs to Maine Governor Janet Mills—and Dr. Darren Ranco, University of Maine Professor (Penobscot), for a powerful and timely dialogue on the Declaration’s promises, contradictions, and lasting impact on Wabanaki Nations.
Presented in conjunction with the Abbe Museum’s hosting of the Maine Historical Society’s Dunlap Broadside copy of the Declaration, this program invites audiences to reconsider one of America’s founding documents through voices too often left out of its telling.
A landmark conversation for the 250th anniversary.
