Indigenous Peoples’ Day at the Abbe

  • Abbe Museum 26 Mount Desert Street Bar Harbor, ME, 04609 (map)

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a full day of free, family-friendly programming honoring Wabanaki cultures and creativity. Admission is pay-what-you-can all day.

At 11 am, the Burnurwurbskek Singers (Penobscot Nation) will open the day with a powerful drum performance on the museum patio, filling downtown Bar Harbor with their amazing sound.

Afterward, join Curator of Education Christiana Becker (Penobscot) for a short talk on the cultural significance of sage, followed by a hands-on printmaking workshop inspired by this sacred medicine plant. Create your own artwork to take home.

All ages welcome. Drop in and take part throughout the day.
