Stitching Ourselves Together: A Critical Look at Museum & Tribal Collaborations

Join co-curators Jennifer Pictou (Mi’kmaq) and Starr Kelly (Algonquin), as they discuss the planning, process, construction of the Abbe’s newest exhibit Stitching Ourselves Together. The duo will look at traditional museums models of collections policies and exhibit creation that often exclude Indigenous worldview and needs. They will also be speaking about the collaboration that took place between the Abbe and Mi’kmaq Nation in Presque Isle that led to Indigenous-centered and led care and curation of Mi’kmaq porcupine quillwork.

This program will be hosted virtually via Zoom Webinar. Sign up through the button below.
