In honor of the Abbe Museum Indian Market, the museum is hosting two tour slots of our newest exhibit, Emergence: Root Clubs of the Penobscot Nation. This exhibit celebrates a uniquely Wabanaki art form, a centuries-old craft that has frequently been dismissed by museums and academics as not “traditionally” Wabanaki. The clubs displayed, carved from the root balls of birch and poplar trees, have been created by Wabanaki artists over hundreds of years and the exhibit highlights the diversity of themes found in root club carving throughout this time.
This tour is free with the price of admission. Space is limited, please reserve a spot by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
