This new tour introduces visitors to the fourth installment of our critically acclaimed Twisted Path series, which focuses on the theme of health and well-being in tribal communities. This invitational exhibition features artwork that reflects personal stories about tribal identity and balancing life in a complex world.

Participating artists were chosen based on the aesthetics of their work, their ability and willingness to tell stories through art, and the unique and contemporary natures of their forms. The list includes Jason K. Brown (Penobscot), Donna Brown (Penobscot), David Moses Bridges (Passamaquoddy), Chris Pappan (Kaw, Osage, Cheyenne River Sioux), and Hollis Chitto (Laguna/Isleta, Mississippi Choctaw).

David Moses Bridges passed away before the exhibit opened. His death is an incredible loss to the Passamaquoddy community and his Abbe family, and we are very honored that his grieving family shares our vision to include David in memoriam. His art will continue to speak to us through this exhibit.

Participation is included with admission. Space is limited. To secure a place in this tour ahead of time, or for more information, please contact us at educator@abbemuseum.org or 207-288-3519.
