Jason Brown, Penobscot


Growing up on Indian Island, Jason Brown learned traditional crafts from tribal elders. He is a jeweler who works with traditional and non-traditional materials including silver, turquoise, crystals, porcupine quills, glass beads, copper, etched birch bark, and mother of pearl. He learned silver-smithing at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M., where he earned an Associate of Fine Arts degree. Jason works in marketing for Day’s Jewelers in Waterville, and is actively involved with the Abbe as a trustee.
