Melita Westerlund is an internationally known artist who has lived and created art on three continents.  Currently residing on MDI, she regularly exhibits across New England and in her native Finland.  Working primarily with steel, aluminum, paper, and fiber media, her recent series, “Environmental Chaos”, was motivated by the degradation of the coral reefs.  For this work she developed a new medium utilizing recycled fiber, which she has used here.  Visit melitawesterlund.com for more about the artist.
