Lunaform

11” x 18”, concrete
Lunaform specializes in garden planters and urns in a style that is modern yet still reminiscent of the styles found in classic American gardens, and the gardens of ancient Greece and Rome. The studio was founded by Phid Lawless and Dan Farrenkopf in 1992. Lawless graduated first in his class from the School of Design at North Carolina State University. He showed his paintings in galleries throughout North Carolina and Connecticut before moving to Maine to design solar homes and open a sporting goods store. Farrenkopf graduated from the College of the Atlantic with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology and then expanded on his architectural studies in residence at the GITAG atelier in St. Petersburg, Russia. He returned to Mt. Desert Island to build several gardens before meeting Lawless and co-founding Lunaform, where they could combine their mutual love of art and architecture. Since then their work has been published in House and Garden, Martha Stewart Living, Elle Décor, and The New York Times. They have also done commercial work for the MGM Mirage, Massachusetts General Hospital, New York Botanical Gardens, the U.S. Horticultural Conservatory, and the College of the Atlantic.
