Jill Hoy has summered in Maine since childhood, 1964, and began the Jill Hoy Gallery in 1986. It is at 80 North Main St, Stonington, open daily, late June-mid October.    

 

She has lived in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Michigan, California, and NYC. She has a BA from University of California at Santa Cruz, where she received their first Distinguished Alumni Award this winter.

 

Hoy paints plein air in oils during the summer and fall, in Maine. Then come winter, she switches to studio painting and figurative narratives. She lives in Somerville, MA, with her husband, painter Jon Imber and 16 year old son Gabriel, during the school year, commuting to Maine to paint in the fall.
