Archaeological Field School Experience
Donated by the Abbe Museum

Enjoy a week on the Maine coast adding to your, and our, knowledge of the Wabanaki past. You and a friend can share an extraordinary education, contribution and celebration. At the Abbe Archaeology Field School, in August 2012, students of diverse ages will learn hands-on dig skills, interpretive techniques, and archaeological disciplines working directly with the Maine State Archaeologist, senior Abbe staff, and experienced volunteers. A lab session and several lunchtime lectures will broaden your understanding of archaeology, the Wabanaki heritage, and the Maine coast. Drawing on past work and your discoveries, your team of colleagues will interpret the daily lives and cultures of the people whose stone and bone tools and pottery artifacts you and your friends have helped to recover for safekeeping. Learn to dig pre-history with respect.
