Philip Barter
Born in 1939 in Boothbay Harbor, self-taught artist Philip Barter was profoundly influenced by the paintings of Marsden Hartley. One of Maine’s leading regionalist painters, his work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections nationwide and in Europe including the Portland Museum of Art and the Farnsworth Museum.
