Silver Shell Necklace
Nancy Prisk

Handcrafted fine silver shell; 18”sterling silver snake chain
Nancy’s family has its roots in Cornwall, England. Her ancestors immigrated to New England in the 1860’s and began working in the manufacturing of tableware. Items made by her family can be found under the name of “Prisk Pewter.” When Nancy was a child her father taught her to solder and how to work with metal, just as he had learned from his father.
Nancy’s training as a silversmith includes her studies at the DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln, MA as well as at several independent educational studios in Massachusetts, Maine and North Carolina. She has had the opportunity to expand her knowledge and skills under the direction of master silver and metalsmiths from the US and United Kingdom.
Using the skills of a trained silversmith, shells are raised and forged individually from sheets of fine silver (99.9% pur silver). Because these shells are hand formed and not cast, each piece is an individual creation signed and numbered by the artist.
